Training of Trainers on ‘Promoting Indian Culture among Youth’ for the NSS Programme Officers

Sriperumbudur, Oct. 10 – A three day workshop for pilot testing the module for the Training of Trainers on ‘Promoting Indian Culture among Youth’ for the NSS Programme Officers organised by  Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) began here today.

While delivering the inaugural address Professor (Dr.) M.M. Goel, Director RGNIYD justified the need for testing the modules for promoting Indian culture among youth and told that in the name of culture we have agriculture with all kinds of challenges including suicides by the farmers who deserve empathy ( not sympathy).

There exists generation gap between old and new values. The old values are changing and new values have not yet emerged, feels Prof. Goel.

To fight social stigma surrounding mental illness, we have to start awareness campaigns by developing solid support system, said Professor Goel for the ritualistic celebration of the ‘World Mental Health Day’ around the globe today.

For promoting Indian culture among youth, we need to make them SMART and SIMPLE with spiritual input flowing from the epics including Gita, opined Professor Goel.

We need to change the mind set by replacing the adage ‘Haste makes waste’  by adopting best practices from abroad including ‘Palli Palli’ Culture of South Korea, justified Director RGNIYD.

Prof. Vasanthi Rajenderan welcomed the guests and given programme brief and Dr. Ambu Kavitha proposed the vote of thanks.
