Chennai , September 13 –  ‘There is a strong case for redefining economics which have to be classified into ‘Needonomics’   and ‘Greedonomics’ for enlarging the intellectual gene pool among economists for achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs-2030),’ said Professor (Dr.) M.M. Goel, Director  Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development   (RGNIYD) while speaking in  the inaugural  function  of the international conference organised by Queen Mary’s College in association with Indian Economic Association here today.

The values and ethical perspectives in sustainable development  calls for spiritual economics  based on Gita as  an ‘Idea of India’ which is necessary and sufficient  to become global leader , believes Professor Goel who is a known  spiritual economist trained at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.

Professor Goel claims to have developed Spiritually Guided Materialism (SGM) Strategy flowing from the logo of the Life Insurance Corporation of India LIC based on Gita 9:22

He justified the need for understanding, analysing and interpreting the challenges for inclusiveness including careless and useless manpower in India who have to be made careful and useful by all means otherwise the opportunity of demographic dividend will convert in to demographic disaster.

To reduce under employment prevailing among Indians today, we need to increase return on training investment (ROTI) with spiritual input and communication skills, spoke Professor Goel

Development of the abilities of head and heart, skills and knowledge in all walks of life including consumption, production, distribution and exchange are the essentials for the youth of today in operating the economy, said the Director RGNIYD.
