One of the key connectors for youth has been the field of sports. Apparently, sports shapes and maintains many social values that are held in high regards, such as hard work and fair play, self-discipline, sacrifice, and commitment to oneself and others. Research documents that sports participation can lead to greater health and well-being, as well as social, emotional, moral, physical, and psychological development. In short, the sport has the potential to contribute to the positive development and stability of both individuals and society as a whole. RGNIYD RC recognizes the positive value of sport as an instrument for uniting people, building communities, promoting peace and development. We are going to organize the “3rd Annual Sports Meet” for our students, staff, and guests. You have been one of our greatest supporters in advancing our mission of transforming India by transforming the lives of youth. The meet was inaugurated by Mrs Asha Jaswal, Mayor, Chandigarh, in the presence of Sh. Stanzin Dawa, Regional Director, RGNIYD RC, Dr Kottu Sekhar, Coordinator, RGNIYD RC, Sh. Vivek Trivedi, Social Development Officer, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, Mrs Raj Bala Malik and Shipra Bansal, Councilors, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. Total 200 plus students participated in the sports meet. Students took part in sports including Badminton, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, 100 Mtr race, Lemon Spoon, Sack race and Tug of War games. Winners were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. Preeti Gami and Sumit were awarded Best Performers trophies in Sports.

2 Community Radio Programme2017-11-15 to 2017-11-30RGNIYD

The Department of Social Work, under Adolescent Research Centre project supported by UNICEF, organized four community radio programs done by School students and two Community radio programs done by Expert Resource Persons Dr.A. Karpagam Physiotherapist and Mrs. S.Subbulakshmi - India NGO respectively on the topics “Influence of Social Media among Adolescent and “Adolescent Mental Health” during November 2017. The adolescent students from three different schools namely TSK Government Higher Secondary School Mathur, Mevalurkuppam Govt High School, and Government High School – Santhavellore, took part in the radio program production. The students sensitized on social issues like women education, cleanliness, exploitation of poor farmers by corporate sector, patriotism, youth demographic dividend and protection of democracy through various program formats like drama, speech, songs, storytelling and folk songs. A total 78 adolescent children (28 boys and 50 girls) were trained on preparing the script for radio program, initially in their respective school by the team of Adolescent Resource Centre, later in community radio Centre at RGNIYD, Sriperumbadur. The program was worth mentioning by the overwhelming participation of female students and proactive support of ignited tender minds. After the program successfully recorded, students expressed their immense gratitude and seemed more confident and proud in their respective field of art as a medium of social change and development. The recorded program is aired as per the scheduled time in between 10.am to 6 pm on regular basis. Technical support for radio production was extended by Mr. Surendra Babu, Technical Officer and the programme was coordinated by Mr. Noel Antony Dass, ARC Programme Officer.

3 I Guest Lecture Programme2017-11-13 to 2017-11-14RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur

i) Guest Lecture on “Social Case Work and Counselling in Indian context” The Department organised a guest lecture on “Social Case Work and Counselling in Indian context” on 13.11.17 for I year MSW students in class room D by 10:30 am. Dr.V.Sayee Kumar H.O.D Department of Social Work D.G.Vaishnav highlighted the usage of Social Case Work and counselling in Indian context. The session was interactive and interesting. i) Guest Lecture on “Social Case Work and Counselling in Indian context” The Department organised a guest lecture on “Social Case Work and Counselling in Indian context” on 13.11.17 for I year MSW students in class room D by 10:30 am. The session was interactive and interesting. ii) Guest Lecture on “Therapeutic approach in social group work” The Department organised a guest lecture on “Therapeutic approach in social group work” on 14.11.17 for I year MSW students in class room D by 10:30 am. Ms.Leeba counsellor in TTK De-addiction Center highlighted the usage of Family Therapy and Rational Emotive Therapy and its application in context to rehabilitation center. The session was made interactive and interesting with case studies and Role Play. Dr Suresh and Students from psychology department also attended the guest lecture.iii) Guest Lecture on “Importance of Field work in Social Work” The Department organised a guest lecture on “Importance of field work in Social Work” on 14.11.17 for I year MSW students in class room D by 1:30 p.m. Dr.Shanmuga Velayutham Retired Professor Loyola College addressed the students about the objectives of field work, its needs and importance and how field work can be done productively. He shared his experience and contribution to structure the fieldwork practicum .The session was informative and interesting with case studies. Students gained inspiration to effectively utilize field work for their professional growth.

4 Communal Harmony Campaign and Flag Day –(19-25th Nov 2017) i) Inauguration of the Campaign (19.1.2017)2017-11-19 to 2017-11-25RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur

i) Inauguration of the Campaign (19.1.2017) Communal harmony Campaign was flagged of by Prof.Dr.Madan Mohan Goel, Director RGNIYD on 19th Nov 2017 by 11.am at mini conference hall .Dr.s.Lalitha H.O.D Department of Social Work Welcomed the gathering .Prof.Dr.Madan Mohan Goel,Director ,RGNIYD gave the key note address.Dr.Rambabu Botcha highlighted the objectives of the Communal Harmony Campaign .Shri.Girish Juyal ,National Organizing Convenor ,Muslim Rashtriya Manch,New Delhi, graced the occasion. Poster for communal harmony was released by the Director,RGNIYD and communal harmony pledge were taken by all. Ms.P.Leena Roseline proposed the vote of thanks, Teaching and non-teaching staffs and students (male-22 female-10) participated in the program.

5 ii) Special Lecture on Communal Harmony(20.11.2017)2017-11-20RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur

A Special Lecture on Communal Harmony was held on 20th November 2017 by 10.30 am at mini conference hall. The program started with a welcome address given by Prof. (Dr) Vasanthi Rajendran, Dean, Academic and Research . Dr.S.Lalitha, Head,Department of Social Work introduced the speaker . Shri.Girish Juyal, National Organizing Convenor, Muslim Rashtriya Manch delivered special lecture on harmony and peace .In his speech he emphasised the significance and the role of youth in promoting communal harmony and peace building.He also highlighted the four aspects of satisfaction and peace viz.,Needs,Respect,Feelings and Soul .He further urged that , instead of thinking about self, one should think about humanity and growth of the society .Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr.Rambabu Botcha Assistant Professor. The program for the day was concluded by demonstrating the harmony with the environment by planting saplings

6 iii) Competition for Students of RGNIYD (21.11.2017 )2017-11-21RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur

As a part of Communal Harmony Campaign, Poster making and Poem writing competition were organised for students on 21st November in class room “C” by 4.30 pm .Students from various department participated enthusiastically.

7 iv) Competition and Games for Teaching, Non-Teaching staffs (22.11.2017)2017-11-22RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur

As a part of communal harmony campaign Rangoli, slogan and Poem writing competition on the theme “Communal Harmony” and harmony games was organised for Teaching, Non-Teaching staffs and for the Gardeners were organised. Greater involvement and enthusiasm was exhibited from all the participants .

8 v) Competition for Kachipattu Government School Students (23.11.2017)2017-11-23RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur

Message of communal harmony was taken to the middle school of our adopted village “Kachipattu” where we organised drawing and speech competition for the children. The children participated enthusiastically and sketched out their creativity and demonstrated harmony by sharing the colour pencils and encouraging each other.

9 vi) Flag Day (24.11.2017)2017-11-24RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur

Flag Day was observed as per the direction of Ministry of Home Affairs .A hundy was taken to all the members of RGNIYD Family and their contribution for the cause was collected by which the thought of social responsibility and voluntarism was instigated.

10 vii) Valedictory ( 25.11.2017) 2017-11-25RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur

Valedictory Address was given by Prof(Dr). Madan Mohan Goel, Director, RGNIYD by highlighting the essence of social harmony for the prosperity of the country .A special address was given by Prof (Dr). Rajalakshmi, Department of Economics, University of Madras, on new dimensions of communal harmony by incorporating economic development and women participation in peace building. At the end of the program prizes were distributed to the winners.
