The Priority Area 7 of the National Youth Policy 2014 on Community Engagement reiterates that the latent potential and dynamism of youth should be harnessed in promoting environmental protection. Towards promoting this goal, the RGNIYD organised the Training of Trainers Programme on Environment Education and Sustainable Development for the NSS Programme Officers. The programme was attended by 26 NSS Programme Officers from various colleges and universities in Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. The training included sessions on Understanding Environment, Understanding Sustainable Development, Sustainable Development: Concerns for India - Sustainable Agriculture, Water, Waste, Biodiversity, Energy, Climate Change, Youth as change agents for Sustainable Development, preparation. The participants prepared and made presentation on the plan of action they propose to undertake in their respective organisations.

Entrepreneurship is the single biggest driver of job creation and economic growth in any economy, which in turn are the underpinnings of political stability and healthy societies. Entrepreneurship has assumed much importance for accelerating economic growth both in developed and developing countries. It promotes capital formation and creates wealth in the country. It reduces unemployment and poverty and it is a pathway to prosper. Entrepreneurship is the process of exploring the opportunities in the market place and arranging resources required to exploit these opportunities for long term gain. Entrepreneurship is the act of being an entrepreneur, which can be defined as "one who undertakes innovations, finance and business acumen in an effort to transform innovations into economic goods". This may result in new organizations or may be part of revitalizing mature organizations in response to a perceived opportunity. Teachers are empowered to take the role of a mentor or guide to help develop an entrepreneurial culture and mindset in youth and assist in the creation of entrepreneurs; find the opportunity to engage students in activities that capture their attention, stimulate their imagination and interest in business, whilst assisting them to develop entrepreneurial attitudes, habits and skills. Research shows that teachers play the key role in entrepreneurship education. Training of Teachers on Entrepreneurship is a necessity. Focus is given to facilitate faculty/ teachers to teach entrepreneurship as a subject at school & College level. The idea is to stimulate the teachers for motivating students to take up Entrepreneurship. Teachers are becoming ‘Be yonder’ educator. Teachers are to be trained about enterprise and the spirit of entrepreneurship, new concepts in Entrepreneurship, E-commerce & Networking, Social Entrepreneurship, concepts in raising finance, Entrepreneurial Motivation Training, the need for Excellence, Goal setting and risk taking, Idea Generation, Stimulating and facilitating, Competency and sustaining, Preparing a business plan, Structure/ lay out of a business plan, Evaluating the factors in starting the enterprise, Money, Material, Functional Skills in Entrepreneurship, Self management, Time management, Decision making, Leadership, etc In the inauguration, Shri. Hemata Rabha, Sr. Project Officer, IIE, Shri. J.C. Kalita, Associate Faculty,IIE, Shri. Biraj Das, Faculty member,IIE, Shri. A.S.S Dewan, Associate Faculty member,IIE, Miss. Deepsikha Das, Training Coordinator and participants were present in the Programme. The inaugural programme was hosted by Shri. Hemanta Rabha, Sr. Project Officer, IIE with a brief introduction on the programme. The valedictory function of the programme was held on 2nd feb,2018 at the Seminar Hall, in presence of Shri. Manoj Kr. Das, Director,IIE, Shri. Hemanta Rabha, Sr. Project Officer, Shri. A.S.S.Dewan, Associate Faculty,IIE, Shri. J.C.Kalita, Associate faculty, IIE, and chief guest as Prof. G. Singaiah, pro-vice chancellor, NEHU, Tura Campus, Miss. Deepsikha Das, Training coordinator, IIE, Miss. Arunima Choudhury and Miss. Macky R. Marak, MBA,NEHU, interns, IIE, and all the participants of the programme. Shri. Hemanta Rabha welcomed and introduced the guest followed by felicitation. He also thanked all the people who are directly and indirectly involved in the program.

3 Trainers of Training Programme on Entrepreneurship awareness 2018-02-09 to 2018-02-11Manonmaniyam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli

The National level Training Programme started at 9.45am by the welcome address of programme co-ordinator, Dr. R. Selvaraju, Inaugural address of Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo Registrar of M.S University and Dr. I. Balu programme co-ordinator (RGNIYD) introduction of the programme, Dr. Sharmistha Bhattacharjee, Convenor (RGNIYD) and Dr. S.Rajalingam, NSS Co-ordinator, MSU, felicitated about the Programme. Dr. C. Ramesh, proposed the vote of thanks to the authorities of MSU, Faculty members, Participants and the agency of sponsored. The first session started at 10.15am by Dr. I. Balu, Assistant Professor RGNIYD, entitled Entrepreneurship competency. Dr Balu started with a ice breaking session followed by entrepreneurial activities to connect theory and practice in the field of entrepreneurship . The second session started at 11.45 pm by Dr. B.Rajasekaran, Professor of Management Studies, engaged the session on Why Entrepreneurship? . After the lunch break, the Third session started at 2.00pm with Dr.S.Samuel Asir Raj, professor of Sociology, MSU. He handled the class on Leadership quality and empathy. The last Session started at 3.45pm Dr. P.Ravi, Professor of Management Studies, managed the fourth session on Business Plan preparation. The programme ended at 5.45 pm. The second day session started at 10.00am with Dr.V. Arulmurugan, Assistant professor, Pondichery University. Business opportunity and Guidance are discussed in the session. After the Tea break, the second Session started at11.45am Dr.J.Sacratess, Head & Associate professor of Economics, MSU engaged in session of second day. He discussed with the Programme officers about the Know the financial Agencies. After the lunch break the third session started at 2.00pm with Dr.M.Julias Ceasar, Assistant professor, St. Xavier’s, College, Palayamkottai, Know the developmental Agencies are discussed. After the Tea break, the last Session started at 3.45pm Dr.J.Sacratess, Head & Associate Professor of Economics, MSU engaged in the fourth session. He explained the Functional Skill development to the participants and the report presentation. The third day session started at 10.00am. And the session headed by Dr.Sanakaran, Assistant Professor, Pondichery University. He interacted with the scholars about the Development of Entrepreneurial Skill & competencies. The next session engaged by Dr.P.Rajkumar, Associate professor, Madurai Kamaraj University. He handled the class on Social Entrepreneurship. After the lunch break, Dr.K.Jeyakodi, Associate professor of Commerce, S.N. College, Madurai, guided the session on Procedure aspect of floating a venture. Third day session ends with Dr.R.Selvaraju, Assistant professor of Education, MSU, handled the class on Experience sharing of an Entrepreneur. The valedictory function started on 11.02.2018 at 5.20pm in the Sundaranar hall, M.S.University, Dr.K.R.Selvakumar gave the welcome address and Dr.B.Rajasekaran, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Cell of M.S.University, gave the valedictory address. Dr.G.Rexlin Jose presented the reports about the three days National level Training Programme and participants given the feedback. The certificates are distributed to the participants. Finally, Dr.R.Selvaraju, the programme coordinator proposed the vote of thanks to everyone.

4 Trainers of Training Programme on Social Entrepreneurship 2018-02-23 to 2018-02-25Alagappa University,Karaikudi.

A Three-Day National Level Training of Trainers Programme on Social Entrepreneurship was inaugurated on 23.02.2018 at Alagappa University, Karaikudi. The programme was jointly organized by the Department of Social Work, National Service Scheme, Alagappa University, Karaikudi and Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Chennai. The inaugural function was held at the Seminar Hall of Alagappa University. 42 NSS Programme Officers of Affiliated Colleges of Alagappa University were participated in the training programme. Presiding over the inaugural function Prof. S.Subbiah, Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University, highlighted the importance of social entrepreneurship, which aims at uplifting and empowering the downtrodden people of a nation. He said that an educated person would be recognized only when he renders service to society. He added that with the help of social entrepreneurship training, effective services could be rendered by each individual. Social entrepreneurship, in fact, acts as fertile ground for developing relationships of trust between business, government and civil society globally. It helps in poverty alleviation, health care improvement, community regeneration and environmental preservation and sustainable development. Dr. Sharmistha Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Social Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Delhi, in her inaugural address referred to the good work done by the University. She said that developing entrepreneurial skill in every individual is very essential for the nation’s progress and equally important is imparting social entrepreneurship to young men and women and that would make them extend their helping hands to uplift the socially and economically marginalized people. Dr. P. Srinivasan, N.S.S Coordinator, Alagappa University, in his felicitations highlighted the Land Gift Movement and Amul Dairy Cooperative Movement as pioneering and successful efforts in social entrepreneurship. It made an impact on various corporate sectors in India to initiate such social entrepreneurship models. Earlier, Dr. K.R.Murugan, Professor and Head, Department of Social Work, and convener of the programme, welcomed the gathering and said the training programme would furnish knowledge to the trainees on the concept of social entrepreneurship besides providing the necessary knowledge such as legal procedures for entrepreneurship, marketing of products and services, government schemes and preparation of business plans, Networking for Social Marketing and Successful Entrepreneur experience sharing. The first session was delivered by Dr.Balu.I, Assistant Professor, were he elucidated the need for ToT programme and introduced the concept of Social Entrepreneurship as an emerging discipline and the need of the hour to the NSS coordinators and volunteers. The coordinators were able to understand the need of the programme and the way the coordinators need to inculcate the training programme to the students. The Focussed Group Discussion was leaded by Prof.K.R.Murugan, Convenor of the Programme. All the participants expressed their happiness about the contents, modalities, resource persons and the hospitality provided. The participants felt that they learned the concept Social Entrepreneurship and its applications to the society. They assured that the information and knowledge will imported to the students of affiliated colleges. The valedictory function was presided by Dr.H.Gurumallesh Prabu, Registrar, Alagappa University, Karaikudi. During his valedictory address, he highlighted the importance of Social Entrepreneurship and the role of NSS Programme Officers in future. He had interaction with the participants about the learnings of Three-day ToT programme and requested to deliberate the information to the students. Dr.V.Balachandran, Special Officer (P&D), delivered the felicitation address and distributed the certificates. Dr.Sharmistha Bhattacharjee, interacted with the participants and got the feedback from them. 5 Trainers of Training Programme on Entrepreneurship awareness 2018-02-02 to 2018-02-04Madurai Kamaraj University

A three days TOT on entrepreneurship awareness was organised by Madurai Kamaraj University for NSS coordinators. The Registrar,Syndicate members and representatives from RGNIYD Dr.Sharmistha and Dr.Balu participated in inaugural ceremony. Resource persons from in and around Madurai were invited to grace the occasion and deliver lectures on Entrepreneurship awareness. Starting from explaining the concept of entrepreneurship, the training programme facilitated the trainers with practical knowledge from the industries, medium scale ventures and mentored them with the knowledge of educating students about entrepreneurship. Some of the resource persons were Dr.A.Selvaraj ,Dr.Sivakumar,Dr. S.C.B. Samuel Anbu Selvan,Dr.R.Arangannal and Dr.I Balu. Each one of them had elucidated the trainers with live examples which can connect theory and practice. Myths and misconceptions were also answered to enable an interactive thinking. Dr.I Balu Assistant Programme coordinator enriched the trainers knowledge on leadership to explain and explore the hidden traits of entrepreneurial leadership within the participants. He also engaged them in interactive management games to explain the concept of entrepreneurship. It was immense pleasure to invite the Honorable Vice Chancellor of the University to deliver the valedictory address to the participants which further enhanced the hemisphere of learning of the participants.

6 Training of Trainers in Entrepreneurship Development2018-02-12 to 2018-02-16Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati

The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) organized a ‘5 Days Training on Trainers on Entrepreneurship Development ’from 12th to 16th February, 2018.The programme is sponsored by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of Indian. A total number of 31 participants were attended i.e. Professors& Assistant Professors of Colleges& Universities, Teachers from Higher Secondary Schools, Officials from State Govt. industries department & executives from NGOs dealing with entrepreneurship & Skill Development training from NER states. The programme was formally inaugurated by Mr. Manoj K. Das, Director, IIE in presence of Sh. A.S.S Dean, Asstt. Faculty Member, IIE and Mr. Hemanta Rabha, Senior Project Officer, IIE. In this training the topics were covered such as Entrepreneurial Motivation Training Lab individual & Group exercise, Concept of Entrepreneur, Enterprise, Entrepreneurship and its dynamics, Need and importance of Entrepreneurship Education in the changing scenario, Importance of curriculum planning on entrepreneurship in the education system, Concept of Group Entrepreneurship & Cluster Approaches for Micro Enterprise Development, Enterprise Planning, launching, growth, expansion & Product Diversification: Systematic Approach, Government Policy & Legal Formalities for Setting Up of Unit, Opportunity guidance on emerging entrepreneurial scope, Social Entrepreneurship and its importance in present scenario, Developing Presentation Skill & Training techniques: A trainer’s perspective etc. The Closing function was held on 16th February, 2018 in IIE, Guwahati. Shri Pravir Krishna, IAS, Managing Director, TRIFED, Govt. of India was attended as Chief Guest and distributed the Certificates to all the participants.

7 Business Incubation Training on Adventure Tourism2018-02-05 to 2018-02-14Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati

Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) has successfully completed the Business Incubation Training on Adventure Tourism held in IIE, Guwahati from 5th to 14th February, 2018 for the prospective youth on Adventure Tourism enterprise in NER which has been sponsored by RGNIYD, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sport, Govt. of India. The programme was formally inaugurated by Sh. Manoj K. Das, Director, IIE, Guwahati on 5th February,2018. The programme has been organised fully residential in IIE Campus and practical training has been conducted in and around Guwahati Rock fields & water sport points. This incubation training included mountaineering, basic rock climbing, jungle safari, jungle camping & water sports etc. Apart from practical training, management topics has been covered such as introduction of adventure tourism, adventure tourism as a business venture, entrepreneurship, business communication, risk management, operations management & legal formalities as well as liability for setting up an adventure tourism enterprise. Total of 28 Participants has been participated from NER states. The closing function was held on 14th February,2018. Shri Inkhuangang, Zonal Director, NYKS was attended as Chief Guest and distributed the certificates to all participants.

8 TOT on Career Counselling2018-02-08 to 2018-02-10M.S. Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation, Madurai

The Department of Applied Psychology, RGNIYD organised 3 day Training programme on Career Counselling from 8th February to 10th February 2018 at M.S.Chellamuthu Trust & Research Foundation(MSCTRF), Madhurai. Mrs.R.Rajkumari, Executive Director of MSCTRF inaugurated the programme on first day with a small speech on significant role of teachers in helping student to choose proper career. Followed by 1st session of the day given by Dr.Suresh Kumar on Career counselling which continued till afternoon. Afternoon session was taken by professor G.Gurubharathy on importance of work-life balance in activity form. On day-2 Dr.Veera Balaji Kumar highlighted the concept of counselling & its objectives in first session & participants were introduced with various psychological career oriented measuring tools in 2nd session of the day. On day-3, Mr.Gopi, Psychologist Facilitated training on Career assessment by giving protocols to be followed to administer various career interest assessment tests. By the end of the day feedback was taken from participants and certificates were distributed.

9 Training of Trainers (ToT) on Life Skills2018-02-10 to 2018-02-14Dibrugarh University, Dibrugharh, Assam.

The RGNIYD in collaboration with Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati and partnering with National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, Dibrugarh University organized 5 Days Training of Trainers (TOT) on Life Skills during the 10th February to 14th February 2018 at Dibrugarh University, Dibrugharh, Assam. The prime objective of the ToT on Life Skills is to give broad perspectives and importance of ten core life skills and widening the knowledge, enhancing the skills and competencies of NSS Programme Officers in order to replicate to NSS volunteer to develop their overall personality. The TOT on Life Skills was inaugurated by Dr. Jiten Hazarika, DEAN, Student Affairs, Dibrugarh University on 10th February, 2018 in presence of Dr. Devid Kardong, Programme Coordinator, NSS, DU , Mr. Manoj K. Das, Director, IIE, Guwahati & Mr. Hemanta Rabha, Sr. Project Officer, IIE. A total of 28 NSS Programme Officers from different colleges under Dibrugarh University of Assam (25 male 3 female) participated in this programme. The Closing Function was held on 14th Febryary 2018 and the certificates were distributed to all the Programme Officers of NSS. The trainees at the end expressed their happiness and gratitude for giving opportunity to take part in this programme and suggested to conduct such ToTs on other topics to enhance their skills.

10 Training of Trainers (ToT) on Life Skills2018-02-19 to 2018-02-23Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati

The RGNIYD in collaboration with Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati and partnering with National Service Scheme (NSS) Regional Centre organized 5 Days Training of Trainers (TOT) on Life Skills during the 19th February to 23rd February 2018 at Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, Assam. The TOT on Life Skills was inaugurated by Shri. Manoj K. Das, Director, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE). The training was intended to give broad perspectives and importance of ten core life skills and widening the knowledge, enhancing the skills and competencies of NSS Programme Officers in order to develop their overall personality. Sessions on Introduction to Life Skills, ten core life skills such as Self Awareness, Empathy, Critical and Creative Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making, Effective Communication, Interpersonal Relationship, Coping with Emotions and Stress Management, were handled by a team of expert facilitators. A total of 23 NSS Programme Officers from different colleges under Dibrugarh University of Assam (20 male 3 female) participated in this programme. The participants were awarded certificates during valedictory programme held on 23rd Febryary 2018. Dr. S. Kumaravel, Assistant Professor, RGNIYD visited IEE to conduct and monitor the programme. The trainees were enthusiastic in equipping techniques of Training.

11 Training of Trainers (ToT) on Life Skills2018-02-24 to 2018-02-28Manipur University, Imphal

The RGNIYD in collaboration with Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati and partnering with National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, Manipur University organized 5 Days Training of Trainers (TOT) on Life Skills during the 24th February to 28th February 2018 at the Department of Education (New Social Science Block), Manipur University. The prime objective of the ToT on Life Skills is to give broad perspectives and importance of ten core life skills and widening the knowledge, enhancing the skills and competencies of NSS Programme Officers in order to replicate to NSS volunteer to develop their overall personality. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Adya Prasad Pandey, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Manipur University who expressed the value of the training as well as its future feedbacks to the teachers and especially to the NSS volunteers; Mr. Seiminthang Lenthang, State NSS Officer, Government of Manipur, Mr. Hemanta Rabha, Sr. Project Officer, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, Mr. Anjan Chowdhury, Life Skills Development Trainer, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati and Dr. Keisham Shitaljit Singh, NSS Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, Manipur University were the Chief Guest, Special Guest of Honour, Guest of Honours and President of the function respectively. A total of 30 NSS Programme Officers from different colleges & Higher Secondary Schools of different districts of Manipur (25 male 5 female) participated in this programme. The Life Skills training was well received by the NSS Programme Officers with a positive feedback that they would conduct the same to NSS volunteers.
