Training of Trainers (ToT) for the youth on ‘ Disaster Preparedness and Risk Reduction’ during 23- 29 October, 2017

Jammu, Oct. 29 – Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development ( RGNIYD- An institution of national importance by the Act of Parliament) has organised the Training of Trainers (ToT) for the youth on ‘ Disaster Preparedness and Risk Reduction’ during 23- 29 October, 2017 at seminar hall of IIPA opp. Jammu University .

Professor (Dr.) M.M. Goel, Director RGNIYD while delivering the valedictory address told that the success in all walks of life including risk reduction and disaster preparedness needs team work with cooperation and support in present times of inter-dependence.

To reduce if not remove the risks under condition of uncertainties, we have to have confidence and courage to think seriously, believes Prof. Goel.

There is an urgent need for understanding, analysing and interpreting the problems of manmade and natural disasters and train the people including youth with life skills for inclusiveness to survive, exist and excel by coping up the challenges, said the Director RGNIYD.

To protect the minds of youth from being imbued by the present state of growing intolerance and violence, we need to provide them spiritual input from Gita and Anu-Gita, said Professor Goel.

The youth need to be motivated to live with nothing for the self but for the others- the principle of altruism from the logo of NSS ‘Not Me But You’, told Prof. Goel.

Let the youth be motivated to think ‘out of the box’ solutions of their problems in present times of competition which is unhealthy also, believes Professor Goel who is an economist.

We have to ensure the survival of weak by making them unique by replacing the dictum of the ‘survival of the fittest’ which is a jungle raj, said Prof. Goel.

Dr. Hiranniya Kalesh welcomed the guests and presented saplings as part of go green initiative of RGNIYD. Shri Shyam Lal Bhagat MLC proposed the vote of thanks.
